OVERVIEW & PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The mission of BridgeWays is to instill a genuine sense of hope, purpose, competence and self-worth in the children, youth, educators, and others whom we serve. As a nonprofit youth development organization, we are accountable to our youth, parents, donors, and all other stakeholders for operational integrity, the expenditure of our resources, the quality of our programs and the measurable outcomes we achieve.
Summer Day Camp (SDC) is offered during the summer months while schools are not in session. However, planning for the program begins several months in advance. The SDC Director is employed to plan the weeks of summer camp, and work collaboratively with the Camp Administrator to recruit, hire, train, and supervise summer camp staff. The SCD will also oversee the day-to-day operations of summer programs, including special events and overnight options. Most importantly, the SDC Director is also responsible for ensuring all program activities are consistent with this mission of BridgeWays, achieve the organization's overarching goals, and are delivered consistent with the values, principles, policies, and procedures that govern the organization and achieve the highest possible outcome for our campers.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Program: The SDC Director is responsible for the development of fun, age appropriate, outcome driven, and mission consistent schedules and activities for campers. Furthermore, the SDC Director oversees the work of summer camp counselors to ensure quality program delivery and the administration and collection of outcome measurement evaluations.
Staff: The SDC Director will work in collaboration with the Camp Administrator to identify, recruit, hire, train, develop, oversee and evaluate SDC staff and procedures.
BridgeWays: The SDC Director will function as a member of the BridgeWays staff, attend all-staff meetings, and communicate with BridgeWays staff as needed, to fulfill the responsibilities of the job. A list of routine job related tasks is available upon request.

A Chief Senior Counselor (CSC) is employed to support and work collaboratively with the SDC Director in facilitating weeks of age appropriate daily program activities. A CSC is also “boots on the ground” leadership every day overseeing the programs and activities of a tribe of campers to ensure camper engagement and fulfillment of program goals and positive outcomes for the children we serve.
Perhaps most importantly, the position of CSC is a leadership role during summer camp. CSC’s exude the spirit and essence of Camp Fletcher in their supervision and support of Senior and Junior Counselors. They aid campers in setting and achieving their personal growth goals during the summer, ensure that all activities are conducted in compliance with BridgeWays safety and risk management procedures, and are the daily point of contact and communication with the tribe’s parents regarding camper experiences.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Program: As part of the SDC leadership team, a CSC is responsible for leading campers through a daily schedule of program activities. The CSC will assist campers in achieving Camp Fletcher’s desired outcomes for camper growth as well as personal growth goals identified by campers. They will also ensure administration and collection of weekly outcome measurements created by the BridgeWays’ staff.
Staff: The CSC will support Senior and Junior Counselors in their personal growth and development over the summer, and will supervise them as they lead daily tribe activities. The CSC will meet every evening with their tribe counselors to assess and evaluate the events of the day and camper progress.
BridgeWays: The CSC will function as an ambassador for BridgeWays by supporting and advocating on behalf of the organization whenever possible

A SC ensures the safety of campers and the fulfillment of program goals and positive camper outcomes.

Program: The SC is assigned to (and remains with) a tribe of campers for an entire session. The SC follows a firm daily schedule of activities designed to meet the age appropriate, developmental needs of the tribe. The SC monitors camper behavior and progress to facilitate the personal growth of campers over the course of the camp session.
Staff: The SC works collaboratively with other SDC staff and attends evening meetings to assess and evaluate the events of the day and camper progress. The SC is also encouraged to set personal growth goals to achieve over the summer.
BridgeWays: The SC will function as an ambassador for BridgeWays by supporting and advocating on behalf of the organization whenever possible.

POSITION OVERVIEW
BridgeWays is a nonprofit youth development organization. Its mission is to instill a genuine sense of hope, purpose, competence and self-worth in youth; and to assist educators and parents in their nurturing and supportive roles. BridgeWays delivers SEL programs, out-of-school-time programs, and outdoor education programs, as well as academic enrichment in multiple locations including school classrooms, at historic Camp Fletcher, at the east Alabama program center, and in community hubs across central Alabama. Programs are engaging, interactive, mission driven, and outcome specific.
BridgeWays employs a diverse staff tasked with the delivery of programs as well as others who work in support of administrative functions, ensuring operational integrity, stewardship, and accountability. Whether working in an administrative support role or a direct program delivery role, individuals employed by BridgeWays aren't merely working for a paycheck. They are working to improve the lives of youth, parents, educators, and others whom we serve.
PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The primary purpose of this position is to advance the work of BridgeWays by generating earned income via program fees and facility rentals at Camp Fletcher; and by facilitating the generation of program fees across the organization.
RESPONSIBILITIES
The primary responsibilities of the position are listed below, numbered for reference only.
1. Book Groups for Camp Fletcher (CF):
→ Maintain a comprehensive understanding of programs, activities, and rental options available at CF.
→ Introduce educators to the variety of program offerings at CF and facilitate scheduling and booking of trips.
→ Introduce businesses and corporations to the variety of facility experiences and rental opportunities at CF and facilitate scheduling and booking of rentals.
2. Monitoring and Reporting:
→ Maintain comprehensive, accurate records of contacts made to book field trips and rental groups.
→ Work closely with teachers, school staff, and business leaders to gain post-event feedback and customer satisfaction surveys.
3. Professional Development:
→ Participate in regular BridgeWays team meetings to discuss progress, challenges, and best practices.
→ As requested, participate in training sessions and workshops to enhance skills and knowledge related to youth development and education.
4. Outreach and Awareness:
→ Maintain ongoing communication with educators and business contacts who come to camp to motivate their return and future bookings.
→ Forward potential corporate or individual donor contacts to appropriate staff.
→ Distribute communications to designated groups to provide program and organizational successes and updates.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

→ Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
→ Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
→ Valid Alabama driver's license and reliable transportation
→ Physical stamina to conduct multiple door-to-door meetings in a day.
→ Passion for youth development and education.
